SELECTMENS MINUTES
August 27, 2002

PRESENT:  Theodore Bailey, David Colbert, Richard DeBold, and Heather Briggs

OLD BUSINESS:

The minutes of August 21, 2002 were approved as written, signed and will be posted to our web page.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chairman Theodore Bailey called the Selectmens Board Meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Subject:  Fire Department
HIGHLIGHTS:

Present: Fire Chief, John Prickett, David Paveglio, Gil Vien and later Paul Sanborn

Discussed abatement letter the ambulance Department received for Mr. MacDonald.  The Board will take this under advisement.

Discussed the over due invoices that come from the Fire Department.  Judys recommendation is to have the Selectmens Office take over the paying of bills.  Chief Prickett stated that he prefers to handle the invoices himself.

Chief Prickett told the Board the Fire Department will be having a thirty (30) hour Hz-mat class in October at the Fire Station that is being paid for by a Grant.

Chief Prickett discussed the issues the Fire Department is having with volunteerism.

Chief Prickett discussed with the Board the Heavy rescue Truck.  Chief Prickett would like to purchase a used Rescue Truck and showed the Board a presentation of this vehicle.

The Board asked Heather to contact Attorney Goldman in reference to a special hearing to spend the money.

The Board of Selectmen thanked the Fire Department for their service during Old Home Day fireworks.

Subject: Mr. Tim Benjamin
HIGHLIGHTS:

Mr. Benjamin gave the Board the asked for proposal regarding the thirty-one (31) acre maintenance plan using sheep.

Subject:  Board Discussion
HIGHLIGHTS:

The Board discussed and voted on the abatement for Mr. MacDonald.  The Board unanimously voted to deny this request.  Heather will draft letter.

Ms. Barbara Frangione has found another globe for the Grange Building.  The Board granted permission to purchase this globe.

The Board would like to send flowers to Judy Kenneally, as she is in the Health South Rehab Hospital in Concord.


There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM.
